The 6th Nepal Cultural International Film Festival to be held, with 142 films selected from 47 countries.

The 6th Nepal Cultural International Film Festival (NCIFF) is set to take place in Kathmandu during the last week of January. Out of 204 films submitted from 47 countries, 142 films have been selected for the festival. This year’s festival includes 34 national films and 108 international films, short films, and documentaries.

The national films selected include "Bulaki," "Pujari Saarki," "Ek Bhagwat Ek Gita," "Bichhed," "Pakhkheta," "Desaan," and "Destiny." Various short films featured are "Ritto Gaun," "The School Wall," "Dakini," "Nirdesh," "Threshold," "Balak Haraeko Suchana," "Aadekh," "Charaako Nach," "Manu," "Beli," among others.

Based on the evaluation by seven national and international judges, awards will be given to 15 domestic and 15 foreign films across different categories. The aim of the festival is to promote and preserve indigenous art, culture, and the development of cinema.

Organizer Santosh Suvedi has expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of support from relevant agencies during past festivals. He stated that this festival’s importance is heightened because it encourages excellence across various categories, including outstanding films, short films, female-centered films, children's films, cultural films, and documentaries.

The festival’s effort to include films from all categories ensures that artists and filmmakers receive proper recognition and exhibition opportunities for their work.
