The winning designers of Dress to Impress
The International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) recently held its “DRESS TO IMPRESS” fashion show, showcasing the incredible talent of its students. This edition saw 109 out of 126 students, including 8 male designers, bringing their Unique visions to the runway.
The show featured four captivating themes, each with its own sub-themes, offering a broad canvas for the designers to express their artistic visions.
- Mythological Garden: This theme invited designers to draw inspiration from ancient myths and legends, creating ethereal and enchanting designs that transported the audience to a world of fantasy.
Winner: Indrawati Chhetri
- Megalophobic: Challenging participants to confront their fears of large structures and spaces, this theme led to the creation of bold, avant-grade pieces that played with scale and proportion.
Winner: Khusbu Sewan
- Parametric Palace: Inspired by parametric design principles, this theme focused on intricate patterns and architectural influences, resulting in futuristic and highly detailed garments.
Winner: Jigyasa Shrestha
- Carried Away in Déjà vu: This theme explored the concept of déjà vu, encouraging designers to create pieces that evoke a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, yet with a modern twist.
Winner: Shilu Bajracharya
Esteemed Judges Nisha Shrestha, Mahesh Maharjan, Ujwal Krishna Shrestha, Kusum Shrestha, Geeta Mishra, and Udaya Shotan, alongside host Rojin Shakya, added prestige to the event. “Dress to Impress” continues to be a vital platform for emerging designers, showcasing groundbreaking designs and setting new trends every six and a half months.
The event was chaired by Mr. Hari Gopal Pradhan, a senior journalist. Key figures from IIFT INCLUDED Mr. Fupu Tenjing Sherpa, Chairman of IIFT School of Fashion & Interior Design, and Mr. Siva Lal Shrestha, Director of the same institution.
