Feminism in Fashion: Women at work
Fashion is a glamorous world. We, Fashion insiders love the appreciation we get from the fashion lovers and the fashionistas worldwide.
Feminism is the way to particularly recognize the equality and full humanity of women and men both. There’s a deliberate thinking that feminism particularly supports only women and their rights. It is a wrong traditional thinking which should be discarded as the feminism is good for the men as well.
There were many celebrities who supported feminism for the benefits for the men and women both. Celebrities like; Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus and many others have always supported the feminist way. But a few have come to the society delivering with a strong impact of their message.
So, what’s the connection between feminism and fashion. For knowing the connection we need to learn about some of the fashion brands that we have been loving for decades and even ages.
Fashion has always been supporting the feminist and its ways. Women have worked hard in this glamorous sector for ages. We have our famous Haute couture brand Chanel which was first established by Gabrielle Boheur Chanel A.K.A. Coco Chanel and partner Pierre Wertheimer based in Paris, France. Coco Chanel revolutionized the fashion of 19th century using functional and flattering to the woman's figure silhouettes instead of structured silhouettes based upon corset and bodice look. This brand is well known for its Little Black dress, Perfume no.5 de Chanel and the Chanel suit. This brand is still producing the best fashion products marking up to its reputation always. The creative director of this brand now is Karl Lagerfeld.
Gianni Versace was the founder of the Fashion brand Versace now; operated by Donatella Versace as a Creative Director. Versace is an Italian Fashion Company based its headquarters in Milan, Italy. The brand is very famous for its production in Haute couture and prêt-à-porter. In 2000, the "green Versace dress" worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards gained a lot of media attention, being voted as the "fifth most iconic dress of all time" in 2008, with Hurley's 2000 dress being voted first in a Daily Telegraph poll. As of August 2013, more than 80 boutiques operate worldwide; the first boutique outside of Italy was opened in Glasgow, Scotland in 1991.
These two brands have a long back history which includes the females as a strong component that brought their fashion empire to the stand. These fashion brands own up to their reputation in the production of Haute couture and prêt-à-porter. Chanel was independent. She was never married and didn’t have kids. She brought a revolution in the clothing sense for which she remained persistent until she succeeded.
The clothes were made by women for women. The attires are the components a human being finds the right way of expressing oneself without the use of words. Women express their individuality separate from men through their way of doing and handling the given situations. The clothing are one thing that gives you a boost of confidence. It is what adds a spark to one’s charm.
Through the fashion sector, women have gained consciously enough recognition as Fashion designers, models and creative member of the industry. Women have worked accordingly together with men for the promotion of the life women lived day by day. Feminism runs in fashion together hand in hand. It has its own staple place in the fashion world for which women and men both make efforts for the betterment of women together with the men in political, economic, cultural, personal and social aspects of the society.
